Weather
Purpose:
To prioritize the safety of all participants and ensure clear procedures for handling weather-related disruptions.
1. Weather Monitoring
- League officials will monitor weather conditions using trusted sources (e.g., National Weather Service, local radar) before and during games.
- Players and families should check official communication channels before heading to the field.
2. Cancellation Criteria
Games may be delayed, suspended, or canceled due to:- Lightning within 10 miles of the field
- Heavy rain resulting in unsafe field conditions
- Extreme temperatures (heat index above 100°F or wind chill below 20°F)
- Snow, ice, or other hazardous travel conditions
- Poor air quality or other environmental alerts
3. Lightning Protocol
- Immediate suspension of play if lightning is detected.
- All participants must seek shelter.
- A 30-minute delay will be enforced from the last lightning strike.
- If conditions do not improve within 30 minutes, the game may be canceled or rescheduled.
4. Communication
- Game status updates will be shared via email and posted on the league’s website and social media where applicable.
- Decisions will be made at least 1 hour before game time or as soon as possible when possible.
5. Rescheduling Guidelines
- The league will aim to reschedule canceled games within 2 weeks of the original date if possible..
- If a game cannot be rescheduled due to field or team availability, it may be recorded as a tie or "no contest" at the league’s discretion.
